Marshrutkas are privately operated minibuses with prices comparable to public transport. Routes and fares are displayed on the windows or inside the vehicles. Payment is made to the driver, and while they should give you a ticket this seldom happens. Marshrutkas can be packed, especially during rush hour, in which case the passengers pass the fare up to the driver and miraculously you get your change. Indicate the number of passengers you are paying for (odyn – one, dva – two). To request a stop, shout loudly “Na zupyntsi, bud laska” (Next stop, please).
For the more adventurous, Marshrutka services to most cities and everywhere in between are offered from locations usually adjacent to major rail hubs.
