Euro Cup 2012
Euro 2012 Update May 21, 2010
Since Poland and Ukraine received the joint bid for hosting the UEFA Championship in June 2012 there has been talk of how to develop the infrastructure of the two countries so as to support such an event. In most recent news, The Ministry of Transportation in Ukraine has created a special task force to overhaul the major Ukrainian Airports. Ukrainian National Radio reported on May 5, 2010: “The task force…will settle the questions of slot-control of airports, navigation systems work… and other aspects of the functioning of airports at the time of the Football Championship.” (http://www.nrcu.gov.ua/index.php?id=148&listid=118233). The formation of this task force is an important first step in preparing Ukraine for Euro 2012. In addition to getting the infrastructure ready, Poland and Ukraine have named some of their star players, including Ukraine’s Andriy Shevchenko, as tournament ambassadors.
